Celebrate Culture and Creativity This NAIDOC Week

Student Art Exhibition and Collaborative Art Piece

Maddington Central is proud to honour NAIDOC Week 2025 with two meaningful events that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, creativity, and community spirit.

We begin by acknowledging the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community.

From  Friday 4 July, visitors are invited to explore the NAIDOC Art Exhibition, a vibrant showcase of student artwork from Gosnells and Maddington Primary Schools. These young artists have created powerful pieces inspired by this year’s NAIDOC theme, expressing their connection to culture, Country, and the legacy they carry forward. The exhibition is a celebration of youth voices and a testament to the strength and creativity of our local community.

On Wednesday 9 July from 10am to 1pm, join us for a FREE hands-on community art experience hosted by Koolangkas Kreate. This interactive event invites everyone—young and old—to contribute to a large-scale Indigenous artwork. Each brushstroke adds to a shared story, creating a collaborative masterpiece that reflects unity, pride, and cultural celebration.

These events are free and open to all. Whether you’re here to admire the art or add your own touch to the canvas, we welcome you to be part of this special week.
